The Road to Glasgow - Alanna's Amazing April

April has brought some exciting times for me. I had a goal to achieve 6 gold medals (to better my previous record of 5 from both 2012 and 2013) and to make the Australian Commonwealth Games team. I was thrilled when I achieved both!

I also broke a Junior World Record in the heat swim of the 800m Freestyle at Trials in Brisbane which was totally unexpected. I then had two days off before getting straight back into training for Age Nationals which started one week after trials had finished.

Now, having finished up at Age and Open Nationals, I'm extremely happy with my results from both meets. Although the fact that I've made my first Australian team hasn't sunk in yet, it still is an exciting time and a huge stepping stone for me at the young age of 16 and still in my final year at school.

Currently, I'm having a short break to recuperate, only going to school and catching up with friends.  I can then begin the journey of a heavy training regime to prepare for Glasgow. I can't wait!
