McLoughlin’s sacrifices for Rio
Australian F-Teamer Jack McLoughlin will be his debut in Rio.
Funky Trunks F-Teamer Jack McLoughlin says the sacrifices he's made to achieve his swimming dream are the reason for the incredible PB that secured his spot on the plane to Rio at trials in April. The 1500m freestyle specialist smashed his previous best time by a stunning 24 seconds clocking 14:48.60 to earn his spot on the team.
"Swimming is very simple because when you improve you see it. Not like other sports where you might improve but not actually know whether it may have just been your opponent not on their game or perhaps just a fluke of luck," McLoughlin observes.
McLoughlin's lifestyle contrasts greatly from that of his mates who have other priorities.
"I have to concentrate on performing in morning training when most of my friends are still coming home from a night out. I feel relieved knowing all the hard work and sacrifices didn't go to waste and were all worth it when I qualified."

Jack is training hard for Rio.
Jack draws his inspiration from teammates and his family as he strives to fulfil his swimming goals.
"When I think about who has inspired me, it's hard to put it down to just one person. My teammates who have been before and have told me about their experiences inspires me as do my family and friends who have been with me on this journey."
Keen to inspire other hopefuls just as he was, Jack says that belief in your ability is the key to success.
"Never give up and never stop believing that one day you can do it. You might not be winning or even making finals in your event but a lot of things can change in a couple of years and hard work always pays off!"
We can't wait to watch this F-Teamer's hard work pay off in Rio.
