F-Teamers Ready for NSW State Champs
The Australian racing calendar is sharpening up as next week many of the top echelon of Aussie swimmers are set to contest the 2022 New South Wales Open Championships. NSW States is known as one of the final “hit-outs” before the trials for each year’s benchmark event. This year, with the Commonwealth Games and World Championships on the calendar, there is a lot at stake.

Many of our very own F-Teamers will be in action at Sydney Olympic Park from March 4-6, including Olympians Travis Mahoney and Brendon Smith, and Paralympians Blake Cochrane and Jake Templeton. A total of seventeen F-Teamers will be competing, with most in a hard block of training with the trials being the current training focus.

Off the back of the Victorian State Championships, in which many of our athletes also competed, the excitement continues to build in the new Olympic and Paralympic cycle. The trials for the Para and Olympic cohorts are set for April and May respectively, so peak racing looms.

All of our big guns will be contesting their main events, including Brendon Smith in the 400 IM and Blake Cochrane in the 100 Breast, giving themselves every opportunity to fine-tune and perfect their racing strategies and protocols.
