F-Teamers Keep Pace at Edinburgh International
Touted as an important hit-out for many of our British and European athletes, the Edinburgh International was a hotly contested pitstop before the trials for several upcoming international competitions. Many of our F-Teamers qualified for finals in some clashes of the titans, with a few gold medals to show.

On the opening night of the 3-day competition Daniel Wiffen spearheaded the F-Team in the Men’s 1500m Freestyle. Off the back of a stellar 2021, Wiffen hit the wall 4th. The Irish jet followed up his form on day two with a win in the Men’s 800m, and on day three won the 400m Free B-Final in a time of 3:56.14.
The excitement continued in the Men’s 200m Free B-Final where Jacob Whittle (1:50.84) and Jakob Goodman (1:50.85) were almost inseparable to touch 2nd and 3rd. The men swam on to have good meets with some other stellar performances. Whittle claimed the gold in the Men’s 100m Free (49.67) and 4th in the 50m Free (22.92). Goodman showed his diversity in the Men’s 200m Fly (4th) and 400m Free (5th).

Scott Gibson was one of our night two highlights, continuing his brilliant form from the season thus far. Gibson claimed the win in the Men’s 50m Back (25.50) skins event, showing some untapered speed. Evan Bailey is also one to watch, qualifying for numerous junior finals and claiming a silver in the junior 100m Fly (55.93).
With the British Champs set to kick off on April 5th, it’s back to the grind to find that extra 1% for our F-Teamers.
