Polish Pair Joins the F-Team

Funky Trunks have been floating around in Poland for almost 20 years, having surfaced there soon after the brand first began. Swimming is incredibly popular in a country which wouldn’t be considered top of the list for taking a dip. In recent years with the introduction of ISL and the strength of major European swimming competition, more Polish swimmers are taking to the world stage and Funky Trunks is excited to now sponsor two rising Polish stars who have their eyes set on international success.

Oskar Sawicki and Pawel Franke are teammates who train together every day out of UKS G8 Bielany Warszawa, and they have their sights set high. Oskar was crowned short course Junior Polish Champion in 2019 and has recently claimed silver at the short course Senior Polish Champs. His pet-events are shaping to be the sprints, particularly Freestyle and Butterfly. Pawel is a national relay multi-medalist and was recently crowned champion in the Men’s 50m Backstroke at the Lithuanian Nationals.

The pair are ambitious, with their short-term goals being aspirations to qualify for the 2022 European Senior Champs (Rome), the 2022 World University Games (Chengdu), and the 2022 World Short Course Champs (Kazan). Their training structure is world class, with the sprint squad committing to 9-10 swim workouts and 3 gym sessions each week.

The duo aren’t just crafty swimmers, as they extend themselves away from the pool as well. Pawel keeps busy with graphic design while Oskar studies Physical Activity at the Polish University.
