F-Teamers tackle World Cup in Berlin

With the FINA World Short Course Championships just weeks away, the international swimming calendar is really heating up. The recent Berlin leg of the FINA World Cup kickstarted the international short course season, with 4 of our F-Teamers in on the action.

Slovakian Richard Nagy was forced to wait until the final day of the 3-day competition to mix it with the men in the 400 IM. Off the back of Leon Marchand's stellar performances in 2022, the rest of the world has had its work cut out in this gruelling event. Matthew Sates of South Africa claimed gold in not only this event but sits atop the male athlete rankings after the first leg, and Richard wasn't far away from the podium in 6th (4:10.32).

Ukranian F-Teamer Andrii Govorov fell agonisingly short of qualifying for the final in the Men's 50 Fly, just 0.07 of a sec away from the evening swim. Govorov touched in 23.08, with the finals field being taken out by Trinidad & Tobago athlete Dylan Carter (22.13).

Also in action were F-Teamers Sean Niewold of the Netherlands and UK's Scott Gibson, who fought it out in numerous events across the weekend. Sates and Carter are joined by US swimmer Nic Fink at the top of the rankings at the completion of Berlin.

Now the swimming world shifts its attention to Toronto, with Leg #2 set to take place from October 28-30.
