World Champs Wrap
It was a big week of swimming in Fukuoka complete with pressure-packed races, PBs and plenty of highs and lows for our F-Teamers.
On the first night of competition, Team GB butterflyer Jacob Peters smashed his 50m fly with a 22.84. JP was just 0.02 off the medals to finish 4th. Despite just missing the podium, the 22 year old has made massive improvements in the last year, especially with his incredible start off the blocks. He cemented his position in the Team GB relays with great swims in both the mixed and men's 4 x 100m medley. Jacob noted "I'm happy with my performances but I'm motivated for better next year and to get on the podium as I was very close this year!"

F-Teamers Jacob Whittle and Joe Litchfield each contributed to Team GB's relay success with heat swims in the Mixed 4 x 100m freestyle (bronze) and 4 x 200 freestyle (gold) respectively.

19 year old Australian F-Teamer Isaac Cooper had a wild ride at World Champs and came away from the meet as the 4th fastest man in the world in the 50m freestyle. While his backstroke events didn't go exactly to plan he has made a real name for himself as a freestyle sprinter and is looking forward to a small break before returning to training with a new plan in place as the countdown to Paris begins.

Lewis Clareburt went into World Champs confident that he was in good shape. Obviously he would have loved to have been faster, having finished 6th in the 400m IM final with a time of 4:11.29 just behind fellow F-Teamer Brendon Smith, but feels there’s always room for improvement and is looking forward to getting back into training in the lead up to Paris 2024.

World Champs was also an amazing experience for Vanuatu's Jonathan Silas who pulled on his new Funky Trunks Viper race suit to dive off race blocks for the first time in front of a massive international crowd. Jonathan doesn't even have access to a 25m pool back home in Vanuatu but managed to train in the local harbour and came away from World Champs with 2 new Vanuatu National Records. Funky Trunks is happy to be able to support World Record Holders and budding champions from around the world!
